Brian Weigh (RIP) (Joe's 1938/1945) CBE 1982; QPM 1976
Brian Weigh left Joe’s in 1945 for Queen’s University, Belfast. In 1948, he joined The Metropolitan Police as a constable and rose through the ranks to Superintendant. In 1969, he was appointed Deputy Chief Constable of Somerset and Bath Constabulary and in 1975 became Chief Constable of Gloucestershire Constabulary. In 1975, he became Chief Constable of Avon and Somerset Constabulary, stepping down in 1979. He received the Queen’s Police Medal in 1976 and in 1982 was awarded the CBE for services to policing.
